I am an enthusiastic graphic designer, I have been fortunate to explore various design practices and perspectives, from intercultural to decolonized design, as I have transitioned from China to America.

Currently, I am pursuing my second master's degree in the Design and Environmental Analysis program at Cornell University. I invite you to join me in my world of design and photography utopia.

Resume/CV

From the moment I unwrapped the gift of a Ricoh GR III, it wasn't just a camera; it became an extension of my soul. Every day for the past four years, it has whispered to me, urging me to capture the fleeting moments, the raw emotions, and the untold stories that life presents. This camera has been more than a tool; it's been my gateway to a world unseen, a world I never knew existed.

In the transformative fall23, under the mentorship of the esteemed Dr. A. Moisey, I embarked on a profound journey. Using Photobooks as my compass, I navigated the rich tapestry of photography's history. This exploration wasn't just academic; it reshaped my very essence, refining my artistic vision and deepening my connection to the art.

Through my lens, I seek the heartbeat of everyday life, the drama that unfolds in the quietest moments, and the joy found in life's delightful quirks. Every snapshot is a love letter to the world, a testament to my passion and curiosity. My camera doesn't just capture landscapes; it captures emotions, stories, and dreams.

I invite you to step into my world, to feel what I feel, to see what I see. Welcome to my utopia, a realm where every photograph is a piece of my heart, waiting to resonate with yours."

Usually, I just roam the campus for street photography, but occasionally, I get dragged into 'business' by my anime-loving friend to shoot some Cosplay. To my surprise, this turned out to be the moment Cornell’s century-old campus felt most like a 'magical world' to me.

Heavy snow was falling in Ithaca that day. We chose the A.D. White Library and Sage Chapel as our locations. These buildings, rising since 1865, with their aged wooden shelves and faint light filtering through stained glass, felt like magic circles left behind by time itself.

On the library walkways, she was the tsundere lady Rin Tohsaka, her red coat vividly standing out amidst the scholarly atmosphere; then, shifting to the snow-covered chapel, she transformed into the thousand-year-old elf Frieren, staff in hand, standing amidst the white silence.

As the shutter clicked, the boundary between reality and fantasy blurred. It felt as if two mages had truly crossed dimensions to meet in this ancient campus sealed by wind and snow. The chapel bells and the crunch of footsteps on the snow became the unique soundtrack of that afternoon.

She was incredibly professional, shivering in the sub-zero wind to get the shot, yet her gaze turned steely the moment the lens focused on her. We trudged through the deep snow, breathing out clouds of steam as we checked the camera screen. That tangible sense of creating memories together felt even more precious to me than the final photos.

This isn't just about Cosplay; it’s a love letter to our passion and companionship during our study abroad days. Just as Frieren searches for the Blue Moon Weed, I hope that no matter where we go in the future, we will always remember the way back.

Our university motto is a statement left by Ezra Cornell in 1865: 'I would found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study.' Perhaps this kind of 'magic' was also within his expectations.

I miss it dearly. The versions of us from those student days, our memories, our youth—remember to come back.
